Roberto Miniati
Biography

“In my work I try to solve a private enigma with the simplest, most essential tools: colour, gesture and mark. My paintings are not pre-planned diagrams but inwardly mediated constructions, moments of intuitive composition that nonetheless follow a continuous inner research.”
Roberto Miniati was born in Rome on May 14, 1952, to a family of Florentine origins. He earned his diploma, enrolled in the Faculty of Psychology, and attended several private art academies. From a young age, he never stopped loving, studying, and living visual art.
Over time, he refined his artistic knowledge, coming into contact with gallery owners throughout Italy and becoming an avid collector himself. Alongside this, he began his own painting practice, in which—while explicitly referencing the historical avantgardes of the 20th century, geometric abstraction, American expressionism, and postwar artists—he
constantly sought his own individual style.
In his artistic practice, he feels he is able to resolve his personal enigma simply through the things he loves most: color, gesture, and mark. His painting is not premeditated, but rather inwardly mediated; not planned, yet always consistent with a quest for continuous inner evolution. His
relationship with art unfolds with coherence, alternating periods of study and cultural reflection with moments of intense pictorial production, focused on distinct cycles of work.
